May’s domestic air travel in India saw a 4.4% increase in passenger traffic compared to last year, with over 13.7 million passengers flying domestically, up from 13.2 million in the same month last year, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The data also highlighted that Akasa Air led in punctuality with an On-Time Performance (OTP) of 85.9%, outperforming Vistara and other domestic carriers.

Furthermore, the DGCA report revealed shifts in market shares among airlines. IndiGo expanded its dominance to 61.6%, while Air India’s share slightly dropped to 13.7%. Vistara maintained a stable market presence with 9.2%, though AIX Connect saw a slight decrease to 5.1%. In contrast, Akasa Air increased its market share to 4.8%, and SpiceJet’s share fell to 4%.
