The Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) recently convened in Bucharest, Romania, at the Palace of Parliament from September 26 to October 14. This quadrennial event is of significant global importance to the Information Technology and Communication (IT&C) sector, gathering voting representatives from ITU Member States’ administrations.

Taking the lead as the project coordinator, Backstage Production Group oversaw the comprehensive technical production of the conference, managing various technical services. Prior to the official commencement of the sessions, the group undertook activities related to event space preparation, site planning, ground leveling for the outdoor conference tent, equipment installation, system functionality testing, and interconnection with other structures involved in the project.

The team executed the installation of a temporary tent-type structure designed as a Plenary Hall, equipped with essential elements such as flooring, furniture, audio-video equipment, conference systems, interpreting and simultaneous translation equipment, generators, facilities, installations, and a passageway for streamlined access within the Palace of Parliament. This setup accommodated approximately 2000 people.

Backstage Production Group also provided logistical support for audio and conference services, ensuring sound quality, simultaneous translation, editing, and audio signal distribution during the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference. This support extended to the Plenary Hall and 25 other conference and meeting rooms.

Operating in accordance with ITU technical and audiovisual standards, the team offered continuous 24/7 technical support. All actions were in compliance with both ITU standards and the local legislation of the host country.
