During the Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association Stars and Stripes Air Show Spectacular held at Laredo International Airport, Texas, the 433rd Airlift Wing’s C-5M Super Galaxy, based at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, soared high, captivating over 10,000 spectators on February 25. The event showcased various aerial performances, with the C-5M Super Galaxy flight being a standout feature.

In addition to the impressive aerial displays, the ceremony included the swearing-in of eight U.S. Air Force and eight U.S. Marine recruits. Maj. Alex Layne, Assistant Director of Operations for the 68th Airlift Squadron, administered the enlistment, underscoring the community’s successful recruiting efforts.

Before the commencement of the airshow, the 68th AS aircrew, under the guidance of Senior Master Sgt. Steven Martinez, Chief Standards and Evaluations Flight Engineer of the 433rd Operations Group, provided comprehensive training to local firefighters on aircraft fire and rescue procedures specifically tailored for a C-5M aircraft.

“The airshow enhanced military relations with the community,” said Martinez. “The biggest takeaway was assisting in local recruiting.”
