AirAsia is set to expand its network to India from Malaysia with the introduction of a new route to Port Blair, Andaman Islands, India, reinforcing its position as a top low-cost carrier in the region. This new route, AirAsia’s shortest to India, also marks a significant milestone as the airline becomes the first to offer international flights to Port Blair within the ASEAN region.

Beginning on 16 November 2024, AirAsia will operate three weekly flights to this picturesque island, making it the airline’s 17th destination in India. With the addition of Port Blair, AirAsia now connects to various cities across India, including Chennai and Amritsar, with a total of 91 flights per week. In 2024 alone, the airline has launched eight new routes to India, including Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, and Kozhikode, further strengthening its presence in the country.

Port Blair, nestled in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal, is a dream destination for travelers eager to explore its unspoiled beaches and vibrant marine life. This tropical haven has long been a favorite beach retreat for Indian tourists, and now, with AirAsia’s direct flights, travelers from Malaysia and beyond can easily access its beauty and allure.
