ASM Global has announced the appointment of Martin McGougan as the group’s new Regional Director of Business Development for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. A strategic events industry specialist with over 20 years of experience across the Middle East and Scotland, Martin will play a key role in identifying new venue management opportunities and supporting business development teams across the region.

For the past decade, McGougan has been based at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), where he contributed to the delivery of the UAE’s Economic Vision 2030. As Head of Sales at ADNEC, he led the exhibition sales team and built strategic partnerships with government entities and major international event organizers like Reed, Informa, and DMG.

In his new role with ASM Global, Martin will be based in Riyadh and will focus on growing the region’s portfolio of venues while supporting Venue General Managers in driving conference and exhibition growth. He will be integral to ASM Global’s strategy of expanding its footprint in the MENA region.

Paul Sergeant OBE, ASM Global’s Executive Vice President for Asia and the MENA Region, highlighted Martin’s expertise, stating, “Martin’s success comes from his strategic alignment with how events can grow not just a venue, but also a city and a region.”
