Vietnam is rapidly emerging as a favored destination for Indian travelers, with visa applications through Atlys, the visa processing platform, soaring by 146% since 2023. Industry insights from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism reinforce this trend, showing a 46% year-on-year increase in travel to Vietnam. In 2023 alone, the country welcomed 1.2 million Indian tourists. This surge is fueled by Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and affordable, accessible travel options, further enhanced by its streamlined e-visa system and pro-tourism initiatives.

In response to this growing interest, Atlys will waive its Vietnam visa application fee on October 21st. The surge in applications is largely driven by Tier 1 cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi. Notably, solo travelers account for 66% of visa applications, while group travel, especially among Gen Z and millennials, is also on the rise, with 38% of group applications coming from these younger demographics.

Several factors contribute to the increase in Vietnam visa applications. The country’s strong flight connectivity has made it more convenient for Indian tourists to visit. Cities like Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi offer a variety of experiences to suit all types of travelers. Vietnam’s tourism appeal caters to both budget-conscious backpackers and luxury seekers, providing flexibility for Indian tourists across various income levels.

Additionally, Vietnam is becoming a popular choice for Indian couples planning destination weddings. Cities like Da Nang have seen a significant increase in Indian weddings scheduled for 2024, further boosting Indian tourist arrivals.
