Heydar Aliyev International Airport is now the center of a groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC and Azersun Holding LLC. Their collaborative project, “Cleaner the World, Brighter the Sky!”, is designed to promote sustainable development and environmental protection within the airport premises.

Aligned with the Green World Solidarity Year, this initiative focuses on fostering a green and environmentally responsible future. The project aims to reduce paper usage, encourage recycling, and minimize the overall environmental footprint. As a first step, special containers for collecting paper waste have been installed at Baku Airport, marking the beginning of this eco-friendly journey.

The collected paper waste will be sent to the Azerbaijan Paper and Cardboard Production Plant for recycling. This process is significantly more environmentally friendly, reducing air pollution by up to 73% compared to producing paper from primary raw materials. Additionally, recycling one ton of paper saves around 17 trees and cuts down waste by 3.3 cubic meters.
