The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is dedicated to safeguarding Canadians by intercepting and investigating smuggling attempts at the nation’s borders.

In April 2024, the CBSA’s Pacific Region Criminal Investigations Section initiated an investigation after border services officers at Vancouver International Airport Air Cargo Operations intercepted three firearm suppressors. On June 4, 2024, CBSA criminal investigators, aided by the Sicamous RCMP, executed search warrants on the suspect’s vehicle and the boat where they were residing. Several items were seized, including:

• A firearm with an obliterated serial number
• An over-capacity magazine
• A firearm suppressor
• Approximately 800 grams of suspected methamphetamine
