Taras Ettl has been appointed to the development team of Cheval Collection as the group pursues ambitious global growth plans. With a wealth of experience in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, Ettl joins at a time when Cheval Collection has already established its initial site in Dubai, with further expansion planned in the area and an increased focus on Europe.

Ettl’s background spans nearly a decade in acquisitions and development for Kingdom Hotel Investments. He has also held a senior development role responsible for the Middle East & Africa at InterContinental Hotels Group and served as the regional head of operations at Deutsche Hospitality based in Dubai.

Throughout his involvement in the hotel sector, Ettl has honed his skills across the entire development spectrum, encompassing greenfield construction, management agreements, leases, franchises, and mergers and acquisitions.

Daniel Johansson, Director of Development & Acquisitions at Cheval Collection, expressed enthusiasm about entering 2024 with a growing development team, adding Ettl’s expertise to their more than 40 years of experience in the sector. Johansson highlighted the increasing demand for luxury serviced apartments globally, noting the model’s growing popularity among both guests and investors appreciating the allure of flexible stays and agile operations.

Mohammed S. Alawadhi, Managing Director of Cheval Collection, emphasized the global growth of the company and the significance of attracting talent like Ettl. He noted that results in Dubai have surpassed expectations, with discussions underway to add more properties in the region under the management model, aligning with owners’ interests.

Ettl shared his excitement about joining Cheval Collection, particularly at a time when serviced apartments are becoming mainstream in the hospitality sector. He emphasized the potential for further growth in the luxury and lifestyle segments, where guests and owners seek a high-end experience with the freedom to live as they do in their homes.

Cheval Collection, which opened Cheval Maison – The Palm Dubai in April the previous year, is set to announce another project in Dubai soon. Additionally, the company plans to open properties under its MY Locanda and Cheval Maison brands in Glasgow over the next two years. Currently, Cheval Collection operates nine locations in London, three in Edinburgh, and one in Dubai.
