The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has developed an airport security standard that would be a reality driven step, which would enhance the much awaited dreams of the travellers.

As per the details, the newly released Digitalization would enable travellers to avoid a stop at the check -in desk or board gate for document checks.

IATA, under the One ID initiative, airlines are working to digitalize the passenger experience at airports with contactless biometric – enabled processes.

An equally significant aspect in use by various airports for the travellers are the airport security processes such as boarding without producing paper documentation would witness boarding passes that would be linked to a biometric identifier.

The Digitalization hub in increasing airline security standards would advance the realisation of One ID with a mechanism for passengers to digitally obtain all necessary pre – travel authorizations taken directly from the government before their trip.

By fostering an ‘okay to fly’ status with their airline, travellers could specifically avoid all on – airport document checks.

Nick Careen, IATA’s Senior Vice President for Operations, Safety and security proclaimed that passengers want technology to make travel simpler. By enabling passengers to prove their admissibility to their airline before they get to the airport, they were taking a major step forward.

He also added that the recent IATA Global Passenger survey found that 83% of travellers were willing to share immigration information for expedited processing. That is why they were confident this would be a popular option for travellers when it was implemented

Moreover, another key factor he stated that there was good incentive for airlines and governments as well with improved data quality, streamlined resourcing requirements and identification of admissibility issues before passengers get to the airport.
