This week on the Mompreneurs podcast, Amoya Shante reveals how she reclaimed her life by letting go of dissatisfaction and achieving a life of abundance as a successful entrepreneur living abroad. Shante sat down with Mompreneurs host Nancy Redd to discuss her journey of starting over, leaving the United States, and finding purpose in helping others unlock their potential.

Shante built her personal development brand as the “Subconscious Reprogramming Queen,” honing neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) techniques to help women manifest success in money and love through group coaching. Over time, her program offerings garnered a following and grew into a thriving business.

‘I woke up to the fact that I was deeply unhappy.’

Shante had just given birth to baby number three when she came upon a moment of clarity. “When my daughter was born, it was like I woke up. I woke up to the fact that I was in a very unhealthy marriage. I woke up to the fact that I was deeply unhappy,” she said. “I was struggling spiritually and emotionally with life at the time.”

‘For the first time after leaving my marriage, we felt so much joy.’

Fresh off a divorce and thrust into single motherhood with three daughters, Shante embarked on a journey of self-discovery.

As a family, they found joy in traveling and exploring together. It began with short road trips, which became cross-country journeys and ultimately adventures abroad. “For the first time after leaving my marriage, we felt so much joy,” Shante said. “I was trying to figure out: how can we travel more?”

Life was already hard. Shante figured she would take a leap of faith and choose the fearless route. “If I’m going to struggle as a single mom, I might as well struggle living my best life, traveling the world,” she said. “We started branching off into more international travel before we totally left everything behind.”

After years on their “slow travel journey,” the family settled in Mexico. While Shante reflects fondly on these adventures, she doesn’t sugarcoat the reality of how difficult it all was. “It was just a hot mess. There was nothing pretty about it,” she said. “It was scary. But I had so many beautiful experiences.”

‘I learned by jumping in, observing others, and failing along the way.’

Shante pursued her passion for empowering women and personal development. This, coupled with the inspiration and knowledge she gained from the people she met on her travel adventures, planted the seeds for her future.

“Travel opens you up to connecting with people that are living life in a different way,” she said. “Entrepreneurship — there is no blueprint, really. I learned by jumping in, observing others, and failing along the way. The faster I could fail, the quicker we could have success in the game and learn from it.”

‘When we think everything’s falling apart, it’s actually coming together.’

During a difficult chapter, Shante returned to the U.S. from Mexico to regroup. At the time, she had built a thousands-strong community of traveling single mothers on Facebook. With this, she started doing paid workshops and created a membership model. But when the pandemic hit, she was forced to restructure her business. “When I moved back to the States, I had to figure out who I was again, love myself again, and go on this completely different journey than what I was doing prior,” she said.

Continuing with her passion for personal development, she “stumbled upon neurolinguistics programming, hypnosis, QTT” and got certified. “I went from supplementing my income on Uber to having my first $35,000 launch on a group coaching program,” she said. This was a turning point in Shante’s journey.

“When we think everything’s falling apart, it’s actually coming together. And entrepreneurship loves this, right? It’s like, who can weather the different storms of entrepreneurship?”

This new venture spurred the family’s return to Mexico, where Shante “came back and met the love of my life.” Today, with baby number five on the way, Shante is thriving in both family and business. “I am living my dream every single day.”

“When I started actually liking who I was, everything else came together,” she said. “Money becomes the byproduct of the relationship with self. The partner becomes the byproduct of the relationship with self.”

Fear is just part of the process.

The “Queen of Feminine Manifestation” has this advice for aspiring mompreneurs: “You’re gonna be scared. You’re gonna feel like you don’t know what you’re doing. Do it anyway,” she said. “Remember your ‘why’ and let that guide you. And also enjoy the journey. There is no destination, there is no end goal. How can I appreciate the journey now?”
