In a major leadership shift for the cruise industry, Frank A. Del Rio has stepped down as President of Oceania Cruises, effective immediately.

This transition marks the first time since the company’s founding in 2003 that a member of the Del Rio family will no longer be involved in the brand.

Taking over daily operations is Jason Montague, who recently returned to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) in a newly created role as Chief Luxury Officer, overseeing both Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Montague’s deep history with Oceania includes being part of the brand’s founding team and helping develop its original business plan.

Montague’s connection to Oceania Cruises dates back to its earliest days.

He played a key role in Prestige Cruises International, the former parent company of Oceania and Regent, before its acquisition by NCLH.

His extensive industry background includes:

• Writing Oceania’s original business plan alongside the Del Rio family
• Serving as President & COO of both Oceania and Regent
• Holding the role of President & CEO of Regent Seven Seas until January 2023
• Leading the integration of Prestige Cruises International into NCLH
• Serving as VP and Treasurer of Oceania from 2004 to 2008

Now, Montague assumes responsibility for both Oceania and Regent, following the departure of Regent’s President, Andrea DeMarco, as previously announced.

A Legacy of Leadership for the Del Rio Family

Frank A. Del Rio, son of Oceania’s founder, had a long tenure with the company, spanning 14 years in various leadership roles. Before becoming President in 2022, he served as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, spearheading key initiatives that expanded Oceania’s market presence.

Under his leadership, Oceania introduced its newest ship, Vista, in 2023, with a grand naming ceremony in Valletta, Malta that also honored his father’s retirement from NCLH.
