Ernst & Young LLP today revealed that Andrew Levy, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Avelo Airlines based in Houston, has been named a finalist for the 2024 Entrepreneur Of The Year® Gulf South Award. This award honors entrepreneurs from Central and South Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Now celebrating its 38th year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program is recognized as a foremost business award for pioneering leaders who are at the forefront of market disruptions, sector innovations, and transformative impacts. For over four decades, this program has acknowledged the fearless entrepreneurs whose visionary ideas and actions significantly alter our world.

Levy is among the regional entrepreneurs who were chosen as finalists by an independent judging panel, assessed for their ability to create enduring value through entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth, and impact, among other key contributions and qualities.

“As Avelo celebrates its third anniversary, this recognition is a tribute all 1,000 of my fellow Crewmembers can take great pride in,” said Levy. “There are few industries as challenging and dynamic as the airline sector. Since its inception in April 2021, Avelo Airlines marked the launch of the first new airline in America in nearly 15 years. Founded to inspire travel, Avelo has, over three years, offered more than 4.5 million customers cost-effective convenience, consistently low fares, and a reliably smooth travel experience.

Avelo operates 16 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, connecting 52 popular destinations across the U.S., including six bases in notable locations like Los Angeles’ Hollywood Burbank Airport and Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport, among others. On May 1, 2024, Avelo is set to open a new base at Sonoma County Airport in the Bay Area.

The Entrepreneur Of The Year program recognizes diverse business leaders for their creativity, bravery, and entrepreneurial spirit. The program commends various types of leaders including original founders, transformational CEOs, and multigenerational family business leaders who have significantly transformed or sustained their businesses.

Regional winners will be announced at a special event on June 13, 2024, and will join a distinguished group of program alumni worldwide. These winners will also be eligible for the National Entrepreneur Of The Year awards, to be presented at the Strategic Growth Forum® in November, a prominent gathering for high-growth companies.

Additionally, EY US continues to support other entrepreneurs through initiatives like the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women program and the EY Entrepreneurs Access Network, enhancing the opportunities for women and Black and Hispanic/Latino entrepreneurs.
